Upcoming gigs at this venue
72 Manchester Road
Owned by Bear Town brewery the Cheshire Ring specialises in real ale with a fine selection of Belgian beer. The two most popular beers sold in the pub are Erdinger and Kodiak gold and are fine examples of what the Cheshire Ring has to offer in terms of beer. The pub has a number of rooms where you can have a cosy chat. The upstairs room is home of the Verge, one of the finest venues in the North West. The landlord, Wayne and the staff are hospitable, welcoming and incredibly knowledgeable about the different beers on sale and the area. This pub sits just above the canal which is part of the Cheshire ring of canals and so attracts the narrow-boaters. The canal system of which Hyde is part of is 97 miles long and has 92 locks.
The Verge, which is the upstairs venue room, has recently been refurbished with a great PA system, stage plus lighting and a team who specialize in acoustic / roots music, though experienced in all sorts of music. The venue holds sixty people if seated and considerably more when standing. Bands from UK, USA, Ireland and Canada appear regularly, plus an acoustic night on the 13th of every month (unless booked gig is on).
Whilst there are a good selection of real ales, ciders and lagers available food is also on sale. Thursday night is a real treat and is known by the locals as curry night, for obvious reasons.
There is an acoustic session in the bar on first Thursday of the month and The Laurel and Hardy appreciation society meet on the last Thursday of the month – everybody welcome.
In essence then the Cheshire Ring is a proper pub.
